Below are Patrick’s SELECTS:
I was obsessed with this series as a kid. I love Batman, especially Tim Burton’s version, but the animated approach had so much more to explore. It felt mature, super stylish, and it made me understand shots and composition.
The most creative, smart, and well-executed video of all time. It took me a long time to understand how they actually did it.
The brilliance of Spike Jonze and Daft Punk’s first-ever video. A bold approach and a perfect match between music and visuals.
Again, Jonathan Glazer. The golden age of commercials: daring, playful, visually striking, and very far from any commercial message.
An inspiring watch if you ever feel lost in your creative journey, and a reminder that it’s okay not to be easily labeled.
Could’ve picked any of Hayao Miyazaki’s films. But ‘Princess Mononoke’ feels the most epic and thematically complex of all.
A music video that feels like so much more: thrilling, ambiguous, and beautifully shot. It’s as if you’re opening a book in the middle, knowing there’s so much more before and after.
Creature features are my favorite features, but Bong Joon Ho makes this one intimate, inviting you into a family drama set against the backdrop of a full-scale government catastrophe.
Park Chan-wook is a fearless master of style, originality, and technical proficiency. Every film is a unique approach, bending genres in his own way. And I can’t wait to see his next one!
