Below are Zac’s SELECTS:
Extremely formative to my taste in dance and how I process popular culture as a younger kid.
I remember watching this on DVD back in the day. Such a strong mix of dance and story. Shot by Steven Soderbergh, the color is so emotion driven.
So fun, so playful. Never take yourself too serious. Performance rules the world.
Would watch this on repeat. I loved Parris Goebel’s choreography in this, so fun and so epic.
One of the best Australian films (my home). This movie taught me that when a scene is working, to keep pushing it further and squeeze it of all its juices. Baz refuses to leave a scene too early and I love it.
It’s all about performance and emotion. Inspiring in how to innovate in form and to free yourself of restrictions.
There are scenes in this movie that have burnt themselves into my brain. So much said with such few words at times.
Unmatched energy, amazing performances, all the elements are so alive and carefree. Great progression as well. Inspiring to watch.
The Channing Tatum “Pony” scene is such a powerful mix of choreography, dance and emotion. Such a great use of an environment to make a scene unique.
